With the Hound Racing season beginning in April and ending October there are plenty of opportunities to see the hounds run at a venue near you. There are five main events in the season: May Day, the Dog Produce, the Bitch Produce, the August Premier and the October meeting. During the season, ordinary hound race meetings take place about 6 times a week throughout Cumbria. Races can also be seen at most summer agricultural shows and sports meetings in the area.
Below is a list of all scheduled races for the 2026 season. The list is constantly updated throughout the course of the season with trails organised by category including;
- Standard Races – Organised throughout the course of the season, standard races are the mainstay of the racing calendar where the leagues are won and lost.
- Major Association Races – The standout dates for hounds, trainers and race layers… be sure to witness the very best compete at these prestigious events in the racing calendar. Do not miss out!
- Sports/Shows – Hound Racing is an iconic Lakeland pastime and is therefore frequently showcased at all major sports, shows and festivals throughout Cumbria. Be sure to catch a race when you next visit.
- Trial Trails – Trial Races are held in the close season and are a great way to bring the hounds up to peak fitness along with allowing new Pups the opportunity to practice ahead of the season.
2026 Latest Slipping Times
For Latest Slipping Times click on the following link. Type in your location or nearest Town and then select your month and date and find the sunset time. Once you have the sunset time for that location deducted 30 mins and this will give you the latest slipping time (30 mins before sunset)
