There will be a Shepherds meet at the The Newfield Inn Seathwaite on the 4th November. First trail at 1pm and there will be pups, hounds, open restricted all on the short trail.

As some of you will be aware the Area provided the catering for the trails on the 11th, 15th, 17th, 21st and the 24th with the view that any money made would go to the Air Ambulance. We raised £500 for the Air Ambulance and £100 for the Mountain Rescue. I would just like to say a big thank you to Mary Benson and Jacquie Molyneux for their support is serving everyone and all those who contributed cakes etc to the stand. It was a great effort by everyone. I hope everyone enjoyed what was provided and a big thank you to everyone for supporting the trails and the good cause.

South Lakes Area AGM – 7.00pm on 7th November 2023, at Windermere Social Club

Cockermouth and Workington Area AGM – 7.00pm 20th November at Hundith Hill, Cockermouth

Just a reminder that these meetings are open to all Area members, it is your opportunity to put forward any ideas or changes to rules you wish to propose. Any Notices of Motion need to be with me in writing at least three clear days before the meeting, duly proposed, seconded and signed by members eligible under clause 22.

Demonstration Hound Trail – Carlisle Race Course 5th November – we have once again been asked to provide a demonstration hound trail at Carlisle races on the 5th November, this meeting features The Colin Parker Memorial Chase and is a very popular fixture. We are looking for 12 hounds on a first come first served basis to promote our sport, Lee Wall will once again be providing his excellent commentary. Please contact Andy to book your place.

If anyone has any difficulties accessing these just get in touch and i can arrange for forms to be given to you or sent out in the post. Previous years results are also available at the bottom of the Results Page just keep scrolling down until you get to the bottom and you will find them. I will try and move these to the top of the page so they are easier to access.

Also John Bromage will be at Buttermere Show on the 29th and at Millstone Moor on the 31st if anyone has any outstanding payments.

Hi all.

This will be my last year running the junior / 18-30s club.

After 14 years – the time has come to Stand down and give someone else a go.

Anyone wanting to take over the club please let me know. Message me. All equipment we have bought will go with the club.

Registration forms for next years pups available at the trails over the next few weeks or they can be down loaded from the web page. Just a reminder for anyone who has any old dogs who were not previously registered with the HTA they will also need to be registered. Any bitches that may be used for breeding will need to be registered as soon as the current season finishes.

Also from Cockermouth and Workington Area Committee just a thank you to Margaret Pattinson, Alan ‘Algy’ Irving and Ian ‘Casper’ McGarr for sponsoring trails at Seaton. Much appreciated.

As some people may be aware there is an event running at The Beacon Museum at Whitehaven looking at traditional Cumbrian sports and Hound Trailing was included. Hound Trailing was the sport in focus over the last week and a number of members including myself attended to support the event. The Exhibition runs until the end of the month. Thank you again to those who attended to support the event, the members of the public who visited will be better informed regarding Hound Trailing and what it involves. A number that I spoke to hadn’t even heard of the sport and were fascinated by it.

Whitehaven Presentation night (also including Cold Fell and Low Place presentations) Friday 17th November at the Catholic Club at Egremont, pie and peas and entertainment. If you would like to attend can you please let Christine McGee or Steph Steele know please. Also can people please return the trophies from last year as soon as possible.
