Bitch Produce Finance.

Due to the fact that money which had been allocated to each major event and which had been credited to the HTA’s account and  wasn’t credited to the trails means that the profit/ loss has been adjusted and consequently the trails on Sunday made a profit of £117.00.

After Two months- summary.

After two months and to put it mildly , nothing is on fire. Both Championship leaders come from the successful Glenridding kennel of Denise Bland , Jenny’s Aura and Huntsman’s Nimrod but there are a few lying in wait and one of them , emerging from a 43 year absence in the trainer sphere and taking a leaf out of a Joe Cocker song  “With a little help from my friends” and ably assisted by his best mate Caroline, is non other than Noel Murless, a nickname acquired in the sixties after the eight times champion racehorse trainer , Crepello. St Paddy and Royal Palace being his Derby winners and with Arizona and Best Mate could be there at the end.

So could Tommy’s legacy, Jenny’s Delight- Miterdale Shadow and Liz. in the senior ranks. And in the juniors – Ranger and Cuckoo Lane and Tom Thumb.

The fixture list is a bit thin at the moment but this is a trend over the past seasons, the bookies are in short supply. I mean “not many” not too little! . The mixture is taking “some stick” in certain quarters but it is ” universal” and should be the same for everybody not forgetting to add a little oil to each individual  bottle after the paraffin and aniseed are mixed.

Good luck for the rest of the season and with the “big” trails to come , the first  being on Saturday , and trying to go one better than Crackerjack in 1972 will be Best Mate and Copperfield hoping there is no Ringo but there is a Ranger.

International Trails.

The 2018 International trails will be held on Saturday 23rd of June at Gamelsby.

First trail 1.30, entries must be in by Saturday the 9th of June to Barry Laidler  2 Oldfield Rd Windermere Cumbria LA23 2 Az.

Why did the chicken cross the road ?

The old age question , Why did the chicken cross the road?. On Sunday the reason was to try to evade brummies’ wheels.

West Brom John,as he is affectionately called ,is a regular visitor to our trailing world and has been for a number of years having retired from flogging burgers to unsuspecting brummies. When it comes to picking out winners he is mustard and knows his onions. With his wife they reside at the farm just to the left of the Helton finish. Where on Sunday after the fourth trail they returned ,only to find the farmer in possession of a lost hound, being the person he is ,he immediately turned his car around and proceeding back to the venue at great speed.

Now this is where the chicken appears, apparently a Rhode Island Red, who at that very instance decided to cross the road, alas it met an untimely end under the wheels of Sterling John. Now this chicken was the farmers pride and joy and it was now well plucked ( I think that’s what he said)

John dug deep into his pocket and produced a white fiver to compensate the farmer and his wife and the promise of a free burger if they happened to be outside Villa Park , the hawthorns , Molineux, St Andrews ,Ricoh arena, compliments of John’s Son. And still the unanswered question ” Why did the chicken cross the road” ? Perhaps it was expecting a monsoon.?

Just ForThe Crack !

Just For The Crack.

2018 season and the March Trials are underway the snow is receding and spring is in the air.

And first off is “yours truly” with a quote . It is well over 40 years ago  that I put some prize money in a jar to keep for a rainy day . On Saturday “the pup” finished fifth and in the tin went £1.

Somebody remarked ” There are too many runners ,they should be split up , well I slipped a pup and many years ago  the last time I did 40 runners was “par for the course” At least the incoming trailer was safe.

Pup names for the season and “standing Out”  Release The Beast” apparently reference to the “chase”. James McClellan’s two – one is Yours and the other is Mine or is it the other way around?. Cuchulainn last years pup was nicknamed Cuckoo Lane, this year it runs, named after a lane in Windermere, true!!.

Any other business,

Again the question of hound men abusing the All.- in trails and what could we implement to stop this.. Also the number of trails at a midweek meeting should be limited to a maximum of three to give the employed  time to attend. in essence limit the number of all – in trails.

Once again our statistician   (Bill) gave a breakdown of the number of trails and grades for the last season and advocated a rise in venues.,

The price of trail mixture charged to the Whitehaven area promoters was discussed .The price for mixture is £8.30p per meeting, the Whitehaven area charge £15 whereas  other areas only charge £10.  Explanation was that they paid for the storage and upkeep of the rags whereas the other areas don’t.

A heated discussion followed on the policing of practice / trial trails and the role of the rule book in such trails especially with reference to vice..

The Committee will clarify this at a future meeting together with the insurance.

The Chair closed the meeting at 4.45.
